Breaking into the Illinois Solar Power Market: A PV Primer for Professionals

Bright Electrical Supply Co. and PVPower have teamed up to offer an in-depth solar seminar, taught by leading national solar training organization Infinite Solar. This 3-hour session will cover three crucial topics to getting started in solar in Illinois, including photovoltaic (PV) technology basics, customer tax incentives and how to capitalize on the growing PV industry.

WHAT: Breaking into the Illinois Solar Power Market: A PV Primer for Professionals

WHEN: June 8, 2011, 2:00-5:00PM CST

WHERE: Bright Electrical Supply Co. – 217 N Western Ave, Chicago, IL 60612

REGISTRATION: $50.00 to Attend

The 3-hour session will help answer the following questions:

  1. Is solar feasible in Illinois?
  2. How does an electrical contractor get into solar?
  3. What solar certification(s) are available for contractors?
  4. What makes up a PV system?
  5. What are the different types of PV systems available?
  6. What types of customers are good solar candidates?
  7. What is the typical payback for a solar project?
  8. When I get a call from a customer interested in looking at solar, what’s the next step?

Did You Know?

  • The solar industry grew 67% in the U.S. in 2010, and is one of the few expanding sectors in the American economy.
  • Illinois must increase solar energy production 500% over the next 4-years. According to the “Solar Ramp up Bill, HB6202" Illinois is on a clear path to generate 750MW of solar energy by 2016. In 2010, the state had just under 1MW of installed solar capacity. Learn More: http://votesolar.org/tag/illinois-solar/
  • Solar PV will reach grid parity with fossil fuels in the next few years. If we assume a steady decline in the cost of solar modules, unchanged state/federal incentives, and a 1% annual increase in the price of electricity, the price of solar energy production will equal that of coal by 2015. This will dramatically expand the industry from social conscious customers, to practical customers as well, ensuring long-term opportunities to properly trained PV installers.

This is a fantastic time for you and your company to evaluate your path in a new market space that is both profitable and green.
